On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is my distinct privilege to welcome you to the 12th ISNS-Asia Pacific Regional Meeting, hosted on the enchanting island of Bali, Indonesia.
Under the theme “Sustainable Newborn Screening Systems: From Innovation to Equitable Impact”, this meeting addresses the evolving needs of newborn screening programs across the entire continuum—from advances in laboratory technologies to comprehensive long-term follow-up. It reflects our shared commitment to ensuring that every newborn, regardless of geography or socioeconomic status, has access to timely, high-quality screening. As scientific and technological frontiers continue to expand, so too does our responsibility to translate innovation into meaningful, equitable health outcomes for all children.
The Asia-Pacific region embodies extraordinary diversity in healthcare infrastructure and population needs. While notable progress has been made, persistent challenges remain in program expansion, capacity building, technological integration, and sustainable implementation. This meeting offers a premier forum for knowledge exchange, partnership cultivation, and collaborative problem-solving— essential elements for advancing newborn screening across our region.
These objectives align seamlessly with the mission of the International Society for Neonatal Screening (ISNS): to champion excellence in newborn screening through global cooperation, scientific progress, education, and advocacy—so that every child may be able to afford the best possible start in life.

GREETINGS FROM THE ISNS PRESIDENT
As President of the ISNS it is a great honour for me to invite you to Merusaka Nusa Dua, Bali, Indonesia for the 12th ISNS Asia Pacific Regional Meeting to be held on the 21st – 23rd May 2027.
It is a very exciting time to be involved in Newborn Screening as new treatments for rare conditions are being developed along with novel approaches to the way in which we are able to detect treatable disorders. These developments are providing renewed stimulus to expand and improve practice, bringing the life changing benefits of early detection to a greater number of children.
The programme planned for the 12th ISNS Asia Pacific Regional Meeting will reflect these important developments as it seeks to explore “Sustainable Newborn Screening Systems: From Innovation to Equitable Impact“.
Alongside these advances in science and medicine there is also a growing recognition that well organised and appropriate newborn screening can benefit children in all health care settings, including those in low and middle income countries and this thinking has been reflected in the recent publication of the WHO Framework ‘Strengthening capacity for newborn screening, diagnosis and management of birth defects’. It is hoped that this will be of significant global benefit and that those working in the Asia Pacific region may be able to share their experience to benefit others in the region and beyond.
The meeting will provide a wonderful opportunity to meet friends and colleagues in the Asia Pacific region and enjoy the wonderful hospitality offered by our hosts in Indonesia at an outstanding venue in Bali. The programme, including presentations made by the delegates who submit abstracts to the meeting will intentionally reflect the topics of interest within the Asia Pacific region and beyond.
Above all, there will be an opportunity to renew friendships with those in the region and those who are part of our wider international community while developing new collaborations with colleagues in the field and with our industry colleagues who are an integral part of the meeting.
